An Analysis of Influence Factors on Gastric Cancer Screening and Post-care Experience of Local Residents: Using Andersen Model

Abstract

|
Background: Gastric cancer has the highest incidence in Korea, and the mortality rate is 14.9% as of 2019, the second highest among others. In addition, Korea’s participation rate in Post care system after screening is 9.7% as of 2019 and lower than that of other countries.
Methods: The research model was developed based on Andersen’s Model. To analysis data, Chi-square test, t-test and F-test and logistic regression were used.
Results: According to a logistic regression analysis, the factors influencing gastric cancer screening are age in predisposing factor, monthly average household income and economic activity in enabling factor, community health programs, community gatherings and organizational participation, and chronic diseases in need factor. The factor that affects Post care system after screening is chronic disease of need factor.
Conclusion: First, it is necessary to subdivide the period of gastric cancer screening and investigate. Second, it is necessary to increase the rate of gastric cancer screening in the community by utilizing community resources. Third, it is necessary to establish a national cancer screening project for the yonger generation. Fourth, it is necessary to strengthen the chronic disease management and Post care system.
